Amps to kVA Conversion Formulas

Single Phase AC Circuit Amps to kVA
Formula: kVA = (E * I)/1000
Example: A single-phase, 240 volt generator delivers 20 amps at full load. Find the kVA.
Solution: 𝐤𝐕𝐀=(𝐄𝐈)/𝟏𝟎𝟎𝟎 = (240 * 20)/1000 = 4.8 kVA
Two Phase AC Circuit Amps to kVA
Formula: kVA = (E * I * 2)/1000
A two-phase, 300 volt generator delivers 20 amps at full load. Find the kVA.
Solution: kVA = (EI2)/1000 = (300 * 20 * 2)/1000 = 12 kVA
Three Phase AC Circuit Amps to kVA
Formula: kVA = (E * I * 1.73)/1000
Example: A three-phase, 440 volt generator delivers 30 amps at full load. Find the kVA.
Solution: kVA = (EI1.73)/1000 = (440 * 30 * 1.73)/1000 = 22.836 kVA
